Flotilla Itinerary (subject to change due to weather conditions)

Saturday,  Join the welcome cocktail party and get to know your fellow sailors! Sleep aboard your chosen vessel ready for the following day’s activities!

Sunday,  In the morning you will have a boat briefing and paperwork formalities to complete. After that you will have time for any final yacht provisioning (make sure you have pre-booked your provisions with Horizon, as we will have them ready on board for you). Mid afternoon, your flotilla will sail from Nanny Cay Marina and head for Jost Van Dyke. Once at anchor in Great Harbour, you will be invited on board the lead yacht for a briefing on the week’s cruising through the Spanish Virgin Islands. For dinner, you can book a table at the infamous Foxy’s, or relax and BBQ aboard.

Monday, Set sail from Jost Van Dyke, through the USVI to Ensenada Honda Culebra, where you will anchor just north of Dewey. When everyone is ready, you will dinghy ashore and clear Customs and Immigration. For dinner, why not invite some fellow guests in the flotilla to join you at Mamma Sita’s in the quaint town of Dewey on the canal between Bahia des Sardinas and Ensenada Honda.

Tuesday, Imagine waking up and taking a leisurely breakfast at the “dinghy dock” restaurant, ready for a day of exploration. Only a short distance away, you will motor to the Ensenada Honda entrance where you can drop anchor in the lee of the reef and swim in the crystal clear waters. Later that day the flotilla will sail south to Sun Bay on the south shore of Vieques. With a mile long beach to stretch your legs, you will be ready for a terrific night out. A must – do is a visit to the bioluminescent bay of Puerto Ferro at night with the flotilla of dinghies (all equipped with regulation navigation lights!)

Wednesday, After breakfast, wander along the balustrade malecon in Esperanza or visit the fascinating archeological museum and learn more about the history of the Caribe and Taino Indians who inhabited the Vieques and were feared by the visiting Spanish ships. Alternatively, explore Vieques by Jeep - just make sure you get back in time for the Flotilla BBQ! Head for the beach in Esperanza and Captain’s Ron and Tai, your Lead Yacht Crew, will cook up a feast on the beach!

Thursday, Head for Palominos Island off the east coast of Puerto Rico where you can spend the rest of the day relaxing or you are welcome to join the lead yacht and head across to the glassy, clear waters of Cayo Icacos for secluded beaches, unlimited snorkeling and diving. Sit back and enjoy the sunset over El Yunque rain forest on Puerto Rico’s East coast.

Friday, The Lead Yacht will guide you and your group towards Cayo Diablo on la Cordillera and then across to Luis Pena island, in the lee of Culebra. Luis Pena is an uninhabited wildlife sanctuary with hiking trails, secluded beaches and more! Relax under the sunset with a cocktail mixed by none other than Captain Tai or alternatively take part in the Rum Tasting, highlighting 5 local rums. Sip and enjoy as the sun slips over the rocky skerries of Las Hermanas.

Saturday, If you choose to disembark your yacht in Puerto Rico, sail downwind to Puerto Del Ray Marina, Fajardo, and a Horizon Representative will meet you and help you get ready to leave the yacht so that you can continue your holiday ashore in Puerto Rico. Alternatively, if you would like to return with the flotilla back to the BVI, then after an early start sailing around the north side of Culebra, you will be ready to stop for breakfast in the breathtakingly beautiful bay off Flamenco Beach. Weigh anchor and sail east along Culebra’s north shore, to Culebrita, anchor in the bay (yes, another beauty) and walk to the north end of the beach, to the natural “Jacuzzi” in the rocks. After lunch, sail past Sail Rock, and along the south coast of St Thomas, to St John. Clear Customs and Immigration, and anchor on the North shore, in the protected Caneel Bay. Once ashore, take a taxi to Cruz Bay, St John, to wander the fascinating streets!

Sunday, Set sail for Tortola, BVI, clear Customs at West End, Tortola, and sail back to Nanny Cay for 1PM.
